£45 -- 'Best' Essex Restaurant: Dinner for 2 w/Fizz, Reg £94

The Deal

Located in the picturesque riverside village of Burnham-on-Crouch, The Contented Sole was crowned Best Small Restaurant at the Essex Food and Drink Awards 2010, and has even received praise from culinary superstar Michel Roux Jr for "high-quality food and service".

Now two people can savour an award-winning 3-course dinner with prosecco at this quirky 18th century eatery, for £45 instead of up to £94.

The deal includes:

- A glass of prosecco each
- Any two starters with options including seared pigeon breast with celeriac purée and red pepper coulis, or seared scallops with confit plum tomato and red wine jus
- Any two main courses, such as whole grilled lemon sole with wilted spinach, new potatoes and beurre noisette, or aged local rib-eye steak with crushed spiced carrot, sautéed potatoes and red wine jus
- Any two desserts with options including glazed fresh fruit and crème patisserie tartlet, or a selection of British cheeses

The Contented Sole's co-owner and head chef Andrew Hemingway previously worked in Antony Worrall Thompson's kitchen at London's 190 Queensgate, and under 3-Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux of the Waterside Inn in Berkshire. Fellow owner Stuart Burbidge trained in America at one of Cape Cod's exclusive hotels, acclaimed for its award-winning restaurants.
