Within walking distance of Chicago's major attractions, the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago is offering discounted stays on any night of the week until 28 February, 2013. Book a more spacious Superior Room for £87 (US$138.51) per night or a Junior Suite for £101 (US$161.80) per night, including taxes. Guests staying two nights or longer get further discounts on upgraded room types.

The hotel, which opened in 1927, has a martini bar, a ballroom, a fitness centre and a restaurant serving American cuisine. Standout dishes include braised veal cheeks, a signature shrimp cocktail and filet steak wrapped with brown sugar-cured bacon. Rooms have flat-screen TVs, views of the city and spa bathrooms with rainshowers.

Take a 5-minute stroll to The Museum of Contemporary Art, get a bird's-eye view of the city from the John Hancock Center or shop along the Magnificent Mile, which runs the length of Michigan Avenue and is the heart of the city’s shopping district.
