Finished in 1917, the 4-star hotel, which is on Madrid's heritage register, is the former residence of the Count of Artaza. The modern interior design takes its inspiration from Cervantes and Spain's other great writers -- rooms are decorated with silk-screened passages of literature and poetry, and the hotel has a well-stocked library. A roof-top terrace offers spectacular views of the city, and there is a restaurant serving modern Mediterranean cuisine. Guests can sample cocktails and tapas in the minimalist lounge or the laid-back Bocablo bar.
Guests will be in the heart of the city, five minutes' walk from Puerta del Sol square and 15 minutes by foot from the "museum triangle". You can see some of Europe's most famous works of art at the Museo del Prado and 20th-century art at the Museo Reina Sofía.
