There are some impressive places to stay along the western waterfront, including an opulent hotel that is situated in an 18th-centrury palace.
Lisbon Accommodation Options
Lisbon is as popular with backpackers on a budget as it is with a sophisticated city-break crowd who seek more opulent lodgings. The city has numerous hostels, some of which are housed in beautifully restored historic buildings. There are also many family-run guesthouses and pensãos which offer good value for money. If you are looking for cheap hotel deals and last-minute offers, it helps if you can be flexible with dates. At the other end of the scale, Lisbon excels at style and luxury, with a number of converted palaces and mansions offering high-end accommodation. A good number of the deluxe hotels have spa and fitness facilities, while some of the beach resorts to the west of the city also have golf courses.
