Where to Stay in Iguazu?
Iguazú Falls, one of South America's most incredible waterfalls, is a natural destination for anyone wanting to combine Latin charm and culture with the colour, sounds and sights of nature. Visiting the falls is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but it does not have to cost much to travel there. Your biggest challenge will be deciding which side of the falls to stay on, being located on an international border, accessible from Puerto Iguazú in Argentina or Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil. Foz do Iguaçu is the larger of the two and has a more cosmopolitan feel. Puerto Iguazú is smaller and less popular with tourists. While it has fewer options for low cost hotels, eating, shopping and nightlife, it has the relaxed feel and friendliness of a small village. You may want to let the falls themselves make the decision: the Brazilian side is supposed to offer more sunshine and better views, while the Argentine side has better trails to let you get closer to Iguazú Falls.
Iguazu Accommodation Options
The selection of places to stay is larger in Foz do Iguaçu, but Puerto Iguacú has plenty of small, intimate pensions and discount hotels that are great for those travelling cheaply. Both the Brazilian and Argentine national parks at Iguazú contain hotels as well as campsites; however hotels in the parks themselves tend to be pricey. A better alternative for those who want to be close to nature and away from town are the many resorts that line the roads to Iguazú on both sides of the border. The vast majority of Iguazu's hotels feature amenities like swimming pools and restaurants. Free parking and room service are also common, as are guided walks and boat trips to the Falls. Many lodgings are located in close proximity to the rainforest with impressive natural views. A satisfying variety of bed and breakfasts and inns situated near all the primary attractions of Iguazu are also available.
