Named for the wildlife artist and environmentalist, the Guy Harvey Outpost in St. Pete’s Beach earned a Florida Green Lodge designation for its conservation efforts and use of special beachfront lighting to encourage nesting sea turtles to the coastline. The Guy Harvey Outpost Foundation supports cutting edge research being carried out at the University of South Florida Marine School with the aid of nearby aquariums.
Rooms and suites have kitchenettes, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions, microwaves and refrigerators, with suites facing the adult pool or the courtyard’s tranquil Koi pond. Suites can sleep up to six guests and have floor-to-ceiling windows in addition to sliding glass balcony doors.
Vibrant sea creatures swim across the walls of this high-rise beachfront resort echoing the artistic style of the property’s namesake. The five-acre property has two outdoor pools (including one that is for adults only), a hot tub and hammocks strung between palm trees, tempting guests to drop everything and relax in the Floridian sunshine. RumFish Grill, the on-site seafood restaurant, features a 33,500-gallon aquarium with over 30 species of tropical fish with whom visitors are welcomed to snorkel. After dark, guests congregate around the beach fire pits to roast s’mores and sip beers from the nearby Tiki bar.
The resort also features a fitness center that is open around the clock and a full-service salon to pamper vacationers. The resort offers snorkeling, scuba and fishing expeditions from its marina, as well as boat rentals and slips. Guests also have access to all amenities at the adjacent TradeWinds Beach Resort, which is a five-minute walk from the property. Additional amenities include use of the resort's tennis courts, mini golf, paddle boats, dive-in movies and family private shows.
