Many of the Woodloch Resort’s visitors have been coming here for generations. For more than half a century, the family-owned retreat has beckoned guests to the banks of Lake Teedyuskung, nestled in the Pocono Mountains. With each passing generation, the resort expands around the lake, sweeping up more awards and recognition as it grows, including a 2014 selection by Fodor’s as one of the 10 Best All-Inclusive Resorts for Families in the U.S.
The rooms are spread across several lodges threaded through the woods. Some have rustic pine paneling and some have a private balcony with lake views; all have free Wi-Fi, a mini fridge and a day bed or sleeper sofa. Meals are served family-style in the convivial main dining room.
Guests also have access to the spa just down the road at sister property The Lodge at Woodloch. It has swept up awards from the likes of Travel + Leisure and Forbes, and in 2014, Conde Nast Traveler readers named it one of the Top 10 Destination Spas. Within its 40,000 square feet it offers treatments incorporating Delaware River stones, eucalyptus steam and caviar.
Out of doors, the offerings go on and on. On the lake, there’s sailing, waterskiing, fishing and ice-skating. On land there’s zip-lining, biking, golf and hayrides. The resort also arranges activities like family game nights and scavenger hunts, along with wall climbing, a petting zoo and archery.
