This relaxed, rustic 4-star resort features fantastic views of the Indian Ocean and Tsitsikamma Mountains, and is situated off Route 62 along South Africa’s famous Garden Route that stretches from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to Stormsrivier in the Eastern Cape. It is 7.5km from the malaria-free Tsitsikama Forest and Coastal National Park, and 15.5km from the Stormsrivier settlement.
The Misty Mountain Reserve is spread over 48 hectares of land, with a range of activities available on site such as freshwater fishing, four trails of mountain biking, guided walks through indigenous forest, and a nine-hole mashie golf course. There are several wildlife sanctuaries bordering the grounds, as well as adventure activities such as bungee jumping, canopy tours and water parks nearby.
The resort offers three different types of accommodation to choose from, each with its own views and style. The Ocean View Lodges feature views of the Indian Ocean from private decks. The Luxury Tented Camps face out onto the lake. The Farm Cottages are positioned at the entrance to Misty with views of the mountains and open pastures. Each of the 12 individually decorated, chalet-style lodges are bright and airy, with beamed, cathedral-like ceilings and furnished rooms and lounges. All have tea- and coffee-making equipment, a microwave, eco-friendly toiletries, a mini bar/fridge, a patio, a barbecue, free Wi-Fi and satellite TV. The family chalet has a kitchenette, and some chalets feature Jacuzzis and sofa beds. There is also a honeymoon suite.
There's a relaxed restaurant serving hearty country breakfasts, picnic and barbeque baskets, and three-course evening meals along with an extensive wine list; special diets are also catered for. Other facilities include a bar, a shared TV lounge, a gift shop, a garden, an outdoor terrace, a sundeck with an outdoor pool and hot tub, barbecue facilities and free on-site parking, There is also a shuttle bus service, conference and meeting room facilities, and babysitting, childcare and laundry services.

The reserve is 104.4 miles from Port Elisabeth international Airport, approximately one hour and 57 minutes' drive. If driving, take Allister Miller Drive to Settlers Way/M4 and take exit 751A to merge onto the N2 towards Cape Town. Follow the N2 straight to the reserve. A taxi from the airport will cost between ZAR2,100-2,500. If travelling by bus, take the Citiliner from the airport to Port Elisabeth (an 8-minute journey costing ZAR110-130, and get a connecting bus to Stormsrivier -- it departs once daily, takes two hours and 20 minutes, and costs ZAR180-240; Greyhound buses depart once daily, take two hours and 49 minutes and cost ZAR210-290. From Stormsrivier, take a taxi to the reserve, which takes about 20 minutes and costs between ZAR190-230.
