Set on a 30-acre estate near Lancaster, Thurnham Hall is a 12th-century country house with a stunning Jacobean hall and a 19th-century chapel.
The resort is located in Thurnham village, a 15-minute drive south of Lancaster, and is surrounded by Lancashire's rolling hills, moors and canals. Lancaster's top attractions include a medieval castle, a 19th-century cathedral and the 54-acre Williamson Park, which has views of the Lake District and the Fylde coastline.
Original features in the Jacobean hall include a magnificent Tudor fireplace, Elizabethan friezes and oak panelling. The resort has a leisure centre with a swimming pool, a sauna, a gym and a beauty salon. Lunch and dinner are served in the traditional restaurant and the bar is located in the wood-panelled hall.
The 60 self-catering apartments are split between the main house and a series of stone outbuildings. They sleep between two and six people in studios, and 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. All feature a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, a microwave, a kettle and a dishwasher.
All guests will receive a complimentary breakfast pack for up to four people, including bread, orange juice, milk, butter and jam.

The hotel is located just off the A588, 5.5 miles south of Lancaster. The resort is just over an hour's drive from Manchester city centre and airport. Direct trains from Manchester Airport take an hour and 15 minutes. A taxi from Lancaster train station to the hotel is up to £20. Alternatively, the bus takes 35 minutes and costs £3. There is a 7-minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel. Free parking is available on site.
