Be one of the first to stay at Marriott’s new flagship property in the city, the Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel. Located in the Garment District, the hotel opened in the spring of 2016, across the street from Madison Square Garden, Penn Station and Macy’s Herald Square.
Within the Big Apple’s first digitally enhanced property, guests will experience an interactive interior, which senses movement and changes based on interaction, sound and seasonality. A Discovery Portal, which engages with guests when they wave, suggests restaurants, bars and attractions in New York. The Portal will also tell guests about top-rated must-sees and which bar has the best bartender.
The hotel pays tribute to its Garment District location with decorative details such as sewing machines, over-sized buttons and personal artwork, while exposed concrete walls contrast with patterned wallpaper. Floor-to-ceiling windows in each room look out at Manhattan’s skyline. The clean, modern design of the room does not compete with the exterior views, and high-speed Wi-Fi is complimentary. Rooms are quite spacious for a New York City hotel in Midtown -- good for families, though families should ask for a room that has a bathroom with a wall -- most bathrooms are separated by clear frosted glass instead of a wall. Guests can access the on-site fitness center or head to the nearby Chelsea Piers Recreation Center for rock climbing, swimming, a driving range and more.
The sixth-floor lobby includes a library, bar, hidden DJ booth and small balcony overlooking the fifth floor’s sweeping terrace below. The terrace features a retractable roof, private cabanas and Rock & Reilly’s, an Irish pub open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Offering indoor and outdoor dining, the high-end Prohibition-style bar has multiple televisions broadcasting games and is sure to be the fan favorite for drinks before or after sporting events at MSG.
