The San Fransisco Marriott Marquis is a behemoth business hotel located in the city's SoMa neighborhood, five minutes on foot to the Financial District and a block from the Moscone Center. It's lovingly referred to as The Jukebox by locals, due to its unique scalloped shape.
Rooms are bland but quite comfortable with pillow-top mattresses and nice TVs. Downsides include street noise, even in rooms as high as the 10th floor, and fees for Wi-Fi, though that's pretty standard for such a firmly business hotel (budget-minded guests can utilize the free Wi-Fi in the lobby). The fitness center is spacious and well equipped, with a well-kept lap pool.
Five dining and drinking options include a convenient Starbucks in the lobby, a casual pub, and a top-floor bar that charges a premium for tasty cocktails -- but for the breathtaking views, it's definitely worth it.
