Fully renovated in 2014 to the tune of $28 million, the revamped Radisson Blu Minneapolis Downtown ranks as one of the top five hotels in town on by TripAdvisor members.
Standard guest rooms offer minimalist Scandinavian-inspired styling and are a decent size, at 350 square feet, with a choice of a king or two double beds. Free Wi-Fi is standard, as is Lavazza coffee in-room. The hotel also has an express laundry service -- clothes come back in three hours -- and a full business center. Even folks not prepared for a workout should check out the fitness center -- the 17th-floor location has some great skyline views. The hotel's connection to the city's Skyway system ensures that guests remain comfortable indoors while wandering the immediate area.
The hotel's on-site restaurant, FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar, serves an upscale American breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, and the full menu is available in-room for most of the day. Praised by the Star-Tribune and Gayot, FireLake offers a "commitment to locally sourced ingredients as well as [the chef's] well-practiced knack for pleasing a wide range of appetites" (Star-Tribune).
Located in the center of the city's downtown, the Radisson Blu is close to the Target Center, Target Field, bustling Hennepin Avenue, the Nicollet Mall and light rail transportation on the city's METRO. The Mall of America is just a 20-minute drive away, and is also connected to the light rail system.
