A £10 million renovation in 2013 has brought much attention to Bailbrook House, a country-manor hotel on the outskirts of Bath. The property, set in 20 acres of grounds, has excellent views over the city, a laid-back atmosphere and plenty of free parking.
Once you're here, there's no need to drive to explore. The city centre, where you can find The Roman Baths, The Pump Room and The Royal Crescent, is within a 15-minute taxi ride. There is also a regular bus service into town (the bus stop is 500 metres from the hotel), or take a pleasant hour-long stroll along the Avon & Kennett Canal. Return to a traditional afternoon tea served on the terrace, or in one of the three Royal Lounges.
The Cloisters restaurant holds two AA Rosettes and is located in the property's vaulted cellars, with large Georgian windows looking out over the grounds. The Conservatory Bar is the perfect spot for a snack during the day or for an after-dinner nightcap, and the Lansdown Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast each morning, and is bookable for private dining. There is also a small gym on site. The hotel has four Silver Stars from The AA, signifying a superior level of quality and hospitality.
Executive Double Rooms are in the modern annexe adjacent to the mansion house, and have classic furniture, comfy armchairs, in-room temperature controls and showers over bathtubs. There's Wi-Fi in every room, and there's fresh milk and bottled water in the fridge.
