Originally built in 1927 as the Heidelberg Hotel, this property near the State Capitol has played host to numerous dignitaries including John F. Kennedy and Fidel Castro; Huey P. Long kept a favorite suite on the seventh floor. A $70 million renovation brought this building into the modern day, when it was revived as the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.
This AAA 4-Diamond art deco destination is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but modern touches keep it comfortable. Rooms feature plush bedding and free Wi-Fi, and there's a complimentary shuttle that will take you anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel.
The on-site restaurant, Kingfish Grill, serves up Southern-style fine dining with steaks, seafood, or Cajun/Creole dishes like blackened redfish and shrimp and grits.
