The Elms Hotel & Spa is a manor house built in 1710, set in 10 acres of grounds. It's an hour's drive from Birmingham, and around 15 minutes from the Wyre Forest Nature Reserve, where you'll find many walking trails and Go Ape, a high-wire treetop challenge. Witley Court and Gardens is less than 10 minutes' drive, and the West Midland Safari Park and Severn Valley Steam Railway are less than 30 minutes' drive.
At the hotel, there is a croquet lawn, tennis courts, a tree swing and a trail to follow around the gardens. Many of the herbs, vegetables and fruit used in the restaurant are grown here. The spa is free and has a sauna, a steam room, an ice fountain, a thermal suite, a gym and treatment rooms, plus there's an indoor swimming pool and a hydro pool that is half indoors and half outdoors.
Bedrooms are furnished in a country-house style. Most are in the main house but there are six in the coach house annexe. Wi-Fi is free. Some rooms are dog friendly by prior arrangement for £15 per night.
Families are more than welcome here -- there is an Ofsted-registered crèche that offers guests a free 2-hour session per day, outdoor play areas to explore, early dinner times and tailored menus. There’s also a variety of diversions for older kids.
Sunday morning breakfast club gives parents the option to send children (age 2-12) to the nursery for the morning). Later on, the Garden Café serves a relaxed menu all day, including a high tea for children each evening. The Brookes restaurant is adults-only in the evenings, but there's an early dinner sitting in the indoor Terrace area where families can dine.
