A fully restored Spanish Colonial Revival-style private estate dating back to 1905, the stately Dolce Hayes Mansion is a 15-minute drive from downtown San Jose and a 40-minute drive from the Santa Cruz Beaches, with wineries, nightlife and golf courses all in the immediate area.
It is one of San Jose’s most impressive buildings, with sweeping mountain views and surrounded by lush, green lawns and gardens. Some refer to it as the Haunted Hayes Mansion, and many flock here in hopes of a sighting or encounter (although so far, these are rare).
Besides the alleged spirit guests, regular folk can take advantage of the heated outdoor pool, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis, 24-hour fitness center, a 12,000-square-foot spa with treatments available (many priced nicely at $99) and tennis courts. Access to the nearby 18-hole Los Lagos Golf Course is also included, and there’s a large park across the road, which is good for running.
The Silver Creek restaurant offers views of the property's pristine grounds alongside daily breakfast and lunch, plus a Sunday Champagne brunch. Breakfast is a vast buffet, with omelet and Belgian waffle stations. At dinner, the Palm Plaza Lounge serves small plates and sharing platters, and its terrace is a nice spot to sit and admire the estate.
All guest rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi and a triple-sheeted bed. Parlor and Mansion suites are more modern and have a private balcony or patio, separate living space with a sleeper sofa, and some overlook the pool.
