The Renaissance Dupont Circle is a good-value hotel, conveniently located on the border of trendy Dupont Circle. It's part of the Marriott chain, but still has a boutique feel with personal touches, such as a welcome drink on arrival, an off-beat restaurant and sightseeing recommendations from staff (try the International Spy Museum and the Corcoran Gallery of Art).
The location means the property is quieter in the evenings but is still only a 10-minute walk to local restaurants and nightlife. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown, with its cobbled streets and boutiques, and it's just 10 blocks from the White House -- 30 minutes on foot, or a short ride on the metro (there are three stations nearby).
Open breakfast, M Brasserie serves up an impressive spread, including fresh fruit parfait, eggs benedict and three choices of pancakes. There’s also an Illy coffee bar in the lobby, and lunch and dinner is served in the bar (the flatbread pizzas are popular).
Once a week, guests are treated to live entertainment from local acts, and there’s also a 24-hour gym with weights and exercise machines. The comfy lobby is a multi-functional space, with free Wi-Fi and a large communal table for meals and catching up on emails.
Rooms here are small but comfortable and cleverly thought out. Those staying in Club rooms get access to the 8th-floor lounge (open Sunday evening until Friday morning), where there are free lunchtime snacks, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks.
