The 5-star Merchant Hotel in Belfast "has led the way in style and sophistication" according to Fodor's, while The AA Hotel Guide describes it as "magnificent". This property, in the former headquarters of Ulster Bank, provides a luxury retreat for guests visiting Belfast.

The hotel is close to the city centre, on the edge of the Cathedral Quarter. In this area, which surrounds St Anne's Cathedral, you'll find bars and restaurants, festivals, and outdoor performances. Victoria Square Shopping Centre and City Hall are both within a 5-minute walk of the hotel, and The Belfast Waterfront Hall, the Ulster Museum and the Titanic Quarter are all also accessible by foot.

When it comes to food and drink, you'll find the Great Room Restaurant -- which holds two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence -- Berts Bar, the Cloth Ear pub, the Cocktail Bar and the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Lounge at the hotel. The Daily Telegraph says "you're spoilt for choice".

The hotel has a spa, a rooftop gym, a sauna, a steam room and a hot tub from where you can take in views of the city. The designer fashion boutique Harper is also based at the hotel.

This Grade A-listed property "has been lovingly and sensitively restored to reveal its original architectural grandeur and interior opulence" according to The AA. All 62 rooms have been individually decorated and each one features original art work. Guests can expect pillow menus, memory-foam mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets in each room. Wi-Fi is free.
