The Midland Hotel is an imposing Edwardian property in the centre of Manchester. It is 300 metres from Oxford Road station, adjacent to Manchester Central Library and within strolling distance of the Palace Theatre. The Printworks and Arndale Shopping Centre are both a 15-minute walk from the hotel, while Old Trafford stadium is a 10-minute drive away.

This Grade-II-listed mansion counts royalty, presidents, prime ministers and rock stars among its previous guests. Its dining options include the 4-AA-Rosette restaurant, The French, where David Beckham took Victoria on their first date, and the 2-AA-Rosette Mr Cooper's House and Garden. The former offers a 10-course tasting menu, while the latter was named among Condé Nast Traveller's Gold Standard Bars 2015. Both are run by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan. You can also take afternoon tea in the Octogan Lounge.

The 312 bedrooms have a contemporary feel, as well as high ceilings and large beds. All have free Wi-Fi. Upgrade to a larger Superior Room for extras including bathrobes and slippers. There are also 14 suites available with city centre views, a welcome tray of wine and snacks, and bathrobes and slippers.
