Among a row of high-rise towers and oceanfront condominiums along Ocean City's lively coast, value-hunters will find the Clarion Resort Fontainebleu a reliable pick with friendly service and plenty to do on site. Families, convention-goers and an older crowd flock to the unassuming but bustling beach resort, one of the nicer options in town.
Guest rooms come with no surprises: They are straightforward and clean with tiny balconies, but ocean views from higher floors make up for the standard beach-hotel decor. The room makes a comfy place to rest, but it's the 10 miles of sandy beaches right outside that draws the crowds. There's a huge conference center on site, and the area convention center is 10 minutes away, so those in town for business can squeeze in some beachside relaxation, too.
Lenny's Beach Bar and Grill is one of the only places around to enjoy a cocktail on the sand, and in July-August, cover bands generate a fun and lively scene. Inside, there's more food than you can eat at the Horizons Oceanfront Restaurant seafood buffet, a favorite, even among locals. For other options, guests will likely need to drive.
This end of town isn't ideal for walking other than along the beach, but drive 15 minutes south to the Jolly Roger Amusement Park for classic boardwalk fun.
