Just two hours from Manhattan’s concrete jungle is an outdoor paradise nestled into the Pocono Mountains. Skytop Lodge is a historic resort spread out over 5,500 acres of land boasting two lakes, three waterfalls and more than 30 miles of hiking trails. The lodge offers an indoor pool, game room, supervised and educational hikes for adults and children.
An ever-changing list of seasonal activities keeps this family-friendly resort at the top spot on Travel + Leisure’s Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the U.S. list, including arts and crafts, zip-lining and campfires with s’mores. During the summer months, grownups can play a round at the resort’s 18-hole championship course, or attend a yoga class while the kids spend days at Camp in the Clouds, the supervised kids club with hikes, trips to the playground, and in warmer months, swimming. In the Winter, the resort transforms into a winter wonderland and guests can partake in activities such as ice skating, snow tubing and skiing.
The sprawling resort offers diverse accommodations to meet the needs of all visitors. Stay in the Main Lodge -- the original hotel -- to be close to meals and activities. The Inn at Skytop is ideal for golfers looking to make an early tee time in warmer months or to enjoy outdoor winter activities. Those traveling with large groups should consider booking a Cottage Room for extra space and privacy.
In the spirit of the historic resort’s tradition, men must wear jackets for dinner in the Windsor Dining Room on Friday-Saturday but can wear business-casual attire Sunday-Thursday.
