"Seattle's only true waterfront hotel", The Edgewater "manages to capture the feel of a classic Northwest wilderness retreat", raves Frommer's. The hotel is set directly on Seattle's Elliott Bay, hovering over the water at the end of Pier 67 and offering some of the best views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
The hotel is 10 minutes on foot from the aquarium and the Olympic Sculpture Park and a 15-minute walk along the waterfront from Pike Place Market. The famous Space Needle is a 20 minutes away down Broad Street and guests can borrow a bike for free in the summer months.
The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service to top destinations and attractions within a mile radius. It runs on the hour, every hour, and guests can call for pick-ups.
The hotel's restaurant Six Seven more than holds its own among Seattle's seafood dining scene with outstanding harbour views, a regularly changing menu and live music on the weekends. Try butter-poached shrimp, Alaskan King crab legs or pan-roasted halibut, or drop by for happy hour drink specials (Sunday-Thursday, 3-6pm). Make sure you get a table outside -- it’s "the best waterfront deck in Seattle" ( Frommer’s).
It's been a while since the rock stars of the 1960s and 70s stayed, but Lonely Planet says "rooms are still deluxe with a capital 'D'". Standard rooms are small, but rustic furnishings and gas fireplaces in every room make them feel cosy. It's worth upgrading to a room overlooking the water (some even have balconies). Pets with a travel kennel or hutch are welcome, with no extra charge applied.
Complimentary shuttle service within 1 mile of hotel.
Bike rental is seasonal.
