Located on Oahu’s renowned North Shore, Turtle Bay Resort sits on 880 acres of lush oceanfront property near legendary surfing spots and amid spectacular scenery -- think lush green foliage, sunsets over the ocean, and palm trees.
After a recent $45 million renovation, the resort boasts updated guest rooms and suites with ocean views in the wings of the main hotel. Rooms feature nearly 500 square feet of space furnished with neutral modern décor and ocean-inspired artwork. Balconies allow for relaxation while taking in the ocean views. Bathrooms feature walk-in stone showers and double vanities, and complimentary Wi-Fi is provided in each room.
With four restaurants and three bars, you won’t have to leave the property for a meal. Head to Pa’akai for sea-to-table cuisine including fresh local fish. To experience a traditional luau (a must-do while in Hawaii), head to The Point Sunset & Pool Bar every Sunday (the show is free; fees apply for food) where you can take in Tahitian, hula and fire-knife dancing.
Golfers can spend the day on one of two golf courses, designed by golf greats Arnold Palmer and George Fazio. The Palmer Course -- noted as one of the “Top Golf Courses in the US” for 2015-2016 by Golf Digest -- is set among wetlands with tree-lined fairways and a view of the ocean at the end of the course.
Unwind on the resort’s private beach, where you can rent snorkeling gear or boogie boards. The resort offers a saltwater pool and two hot tubs with ocean views, and a kids pool features a waterfall and waterslide. The hotel can arrange a surf lesson, along with a variety of other activities including kayaking, helicopter tours and stand-up paddleboarding. Or, head to the historic beach town of Haleiwa -- just a 15-minute drive -- to shop, dine and try Hawaii’s famous shaved ice. Waikiki is just 90 minutes away.
