The all-inclusive Royal Solaris Los Cabo brings playful and loud family-friendly fun to the popular resort area’s less rowdy side. The resort is set in San Jose del Cabo, a beachfront strip known as the “more cultured” sister to party-filled Cabo 30 minutes to the west (Fodor’s). Quiet and charming colonial streets are filled with organic eateries and farmers markets, and the arts district hosts an art walk on Thursdays.
Though the town is on the milder side, the hotel stays abuzz with live music in the lobby bar and packs of kids frolicking through animal-themed waterslides and fountains in the mini water park (the club for kids ages 4-12 is indoors). Grab a drink from the swim-up bar in the main pool, which is slightly calmer, or retreat to the adults-only pool.
The sandy beach is just beyond the pool, but the strong surf makes it better for sunbathing than swimming. If lounging under a cabana is not adventurous enough, there’s tennis, basketball and a diving pool for a scuba demo. Pool tables and arcade games are inside in the teen area.
Half of the guestrooms face the ocean, while the other half look out to the street; even the farthest are within a five-minute walk of the beach. Unlimited cocktails are covered, as well as snacks and three meals a day at your choice of four restaurants including an all-you-can-eat poolside buffet and nightly dinner shows. Two of the restaurants require reservations and fill up fast though, so be sure to plan ahead.
