Be one of the first to stay at the brand-new JW Marriott Venice Resort, on the private island of Isola delle Rose (the 'Island of Roses') in Venice. The luxurious hotel opened in March 2015 and is Marriott's first resort in Europe. The New York Post named it one of the 10 hotels opening in 2015 that are "worth the splurge".
You'll be staying a 15-minute speedboat ride away from St Mark's Square -- easily reachable by the complimentary 24-hour shuttle service offered to all guests (runs every 20 minutes). But there is little need to ever leave the island, with seven dining options, the city's largest spa, and a myriad of options to keep guests entertained. The jewel in the resort's crown is a rooftop infinity pool with 360-degree views.
For dinner, the Dopolavoro Dining Room is set on the island's private dock and serves Venetian-inspired fare, with produce from the island and the local Rialto Market. There is also a rooftop restaurant for small plates alongside cocktails, a garden grill and delicatessen, plus an on-site cooking school.
The spa offers a range of therapies in eight treatment rooms, plus there are plunge pools, steam rooms and therapy baths. There is also a family pool, kid's club and sailing and gondola lessons are available. For something more cultural, try your hand at a Murano glassmaking workshop or pop over to nearby Burano, known for its lace making.
The bedrooms are light and modern, with views over the garden or lagoon. Sixteen of the suites have their own private swimming pools. Wi-Fi is available (extra charge applies).
