The Zollenspieker Fährhaus is a 4-star historic house and hotel in a scenic nature reserve along the River Elbe in the southeast of Hamburg, about a 30-minute drive from the city. With its majestic River Elbe views and old chestnut trees, the outdoor beer garden is popular with the locals and tourists, and the restful location offers opportunities to unwind by swimming, cycling, walking, boating and inline skating.
The hotel’s historic house is a 750-year-old listed building that was previously a customs station and ferry house at one of the earliest ferry docks in Hamburg. There are nine guest rooms in the historic house, each featuring wooden beams, sloped ceilings and rustic furniture for an authentically German gemütliche (cosy, warm) stay. For a stylish, more contemporary feel, choose from a range of spacious studios, rooms and suites in the hotel. Larger suites are perfect for families, with up to six beds and two bathrooms. All rooms have views of the river, are furnished to a high standard and include free Wi-Fi. There is also a specially adapted room for wheelchair users, and pets are allowed.
The hotel has a range of on-site dining and drinking options using fresh regional ingredients, all with great river views. These include a Breakfast Bistro, with breakfast from 7am-11am (brunch until 1pm on weekends); the Winter Garden Restaurant, with an à la carte menu; the new Vinotheque bar, for sampling regional and international wines along with à la carte items; the comfortable Ebbshore Lounge and Fireplace Bar, both overlooking the river; an olde-worlde pub in the historic house; three outdoor terraces with a popular beer garden overlooking the chestnut trees; and the Old Zollenspieler Gauging Station, a quaint riverside restaurant offering a 4-course, intimate dinner, which the hotel website claims is "the smallest restaurant in the world".
Additional on-site facilities include a spacious, well-equipped sauna and a beauty studio offering relaxing massage, skin and beauty treatments for a fee.
