Cruise to some of France's top wine spots, including beautiful Bordeaux, in truly luxurious style with this deal from Iglu Cruise. For £1999 per person, you get business-class flights and a 6-star sailing with all-inclusive meals, unlimited drinks, excursions at every port, on-board credit and more, saving over £950 on the usual cost.
Flights depart from London Gatwick on 9 April; 2 July, 2017. Visit the Iglu Cruise website for more information.
The cruise starts in Bordeaux, one of France's most famed wine-growing regions. From there, you'll sail along the Gironde River to Cadillac, where you'll go wine tasting, and enjoy a lunch with paired wines at Château de Cazeneuve.
The journey continues along the Garonne River to Pauillac, gateway to the Médoc wine region. You can take a city tour around Médoc, or go on a cycling tour around the Pauillac estates. Both options include a wine-tasting session.
Next you'll sail down the Dordogne River to Blaye, known for its citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and medieval Saint-Émilion, for a walking tour and wine-tasting at a Grand Cru estate.
The penultimate stop is Libourne. You'll visit the local farmer's market, full of cheeses, charcuterie and vegetables, before cruising back to Bordeaux for an open-top bus tour of the city. The final night and day is spent in Bordeaux -- there's a choice of a city walking tour or a bike ride.
The luxurious River Royale has capacity for up to 130 guests, meaning there is an intimate feel onboard. The vessel was remodelled in 2014 and now has a French-inspired design.
The food is a highlight. The main restaurant, Le Bordelais, serves French cuisine, or there is the Claret Room, where a special menu is served three times a week. There are two lounges, as well as wine tastings several times a week -- the ship has its own sommelier.
Other facilities include a sun deck, a hot tub and a small spa with a fitness area.
Uniworld won the 'Best River Cruise Line', 'Best in Luxury (River)' and 'Best Dining (River)' awards at this month's Cruise Critic Editors' Picks Award.
