Scoring a bargain ski holiday generally means waiting for last-minute discounts. This is one of the reasons we love this deal from Inghams: £399 per person for a week-long, half-board holiday to Austria, departing in four months or more.
Prices for ski breaks are still usually very high in September, but this offer saves up to £256 on the prices Inghams charged for this holiday a few days ago. Travel is on 11, 18, 25 January and 8, 15, 22 March, 2014, from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick and Manchester. Here's what included:
Edelweiss Hotel Complex is in the centre of the traditional Tyrolean village of Götzens and features a wellness area with an indoor pool, a sauna and a steam room, which guests can use for free.
The free ski bus stops just outside the hotel. The local Muttereralm ski area, which is part of the larger Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck area and its 300km of slopes, is just five minutes' ride away. A little further, 20 minutes' ride away, is the village and ski area of Axamer Lizum, which hosted alpine skiing events at the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics.
With Innsbruck nearby, there is a lot to do in the area, including a chance to try the Olympic Bobsleigh run, visit the Bergisel Olympic Ski Jump or explore Innsbruck's old town with its Golden Roof, cathedral and the Imperial Palace.
Travel for £50 more per person on 4 January; 1, 8, 22 February; 1 March. The same holiday over Christmas is £150 more and includes a free gala dinner.
