"Giudecca is like a secret Venice, its cool squares, churches and trattorias the perfect respite from the touristy crowds," says the London Evening Standard. For £249 per person, escape to this island in the Venetian lagoon for a 3-night stay in a converted flour mill -- a package that would cost up to 40% more to put together yourself.
Return flights from four London airports (Gatwick, Luton, Southend, Stansted), East Midlands or Manchester; three nights at the 5-star Hilton Molino Stucky Venice with breakfast; and a free double upgrade to an Executive Room.
When can I go?
Select dates from 23 November-31 March, 2014. Fleetway Travel's website has a full list of travel dates, including departures in April for an extra £80 per person.
The Hilton Molino Stucky Venice was named one of the Top 50 Hotels in Italy at the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards 2011 and won the Leading Conference Hotel gongs in both the Europe and Italy categories at the World Travel Awards 2013.
The London Evening Standard praises the waterfront hotel's Venetian touches -- the "Murano chandeliers, Fortuny lamps and Rubelli fabrics" -- and "the panoramic rooftop pool and terrace with views across to St Mark's".
There are seven dining options, including a Venetian eatery and a Mediterranean restaurant with an outdoor terrace. There's also a free shuttle service by boat to the city centre, which is five minutes away.
