Housed in a 4-storey 18th-century villa with panoramic views, the Ars Hotel is in Rome's quiet Monte Sacro district, just outside the city centre and easily accessible by bus. Italy's capital is home to some of Europe's foremost historic sights, such as the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, the Vatican and the Trevi Fountain.
The Hotel Delfino is on the lively Corso del Popolo in Mestre (on the mainland just west of Venice itself). There's a bus stop right outside and from there it's roughly 15 minutes into the centre of Venice, with its network of bridges, canals and surrounding islands.
