We'd usually expect luxurious holidays to the Maldives to come at a premium, but this one from Kuoni is £899 per person for a week-long stay at the 5-star Kurumba resort with daily breakfast, return flights and airport transfers. That saves over £500 on the regular price.

Travel is from London Heathrow on 1-2, 6-9, 13-16, 20-22, 26, 28-30 May. Flights are with Sri Lankan Airlines and include baggage and in-flight meals.

Upgrade to half board for £359 extra per person. You can also up your stay an extra week for £313 more per person.

The Kurumba is set amid tropical gardens on a private island in the North Male Atoll, and looks out over a white sand beach and a turquoise sea.

The resort boasts seven international restaurants, including the Ocean Grill and the Indian-themed Kurumba Mahal, a café and three bars. The liveliest of the bars is the Beach Bar, which features DJs, live bands and local Maldivian dance performances throughout the week. Recreational facilities include two swimming pools, three tennis courts and a gym. There is also a watersports centre offering water skiing, wake boarding, jet skiing and parasailing for an extra charge.

Condé Nast Traveller calls the Maldives "a mecca for scuba divers, who come for the stunning coral reefs and abundant marine life". Kurumba sports a 1-2 metre deep reef, and more adventurous travellers can find some of the island’s best reefs a 30-minute speedboat journey away at most.

The price is based on two people sharing a Superior room.

Book by 20 February.
