Described as a ''country of poetic landscapes'' by Frommer's, China is packed with must-see scenery. This deal from multi- award winners Wendy Wu Tours covers many of the highlights and takes all the hassle out of planning a trip on this scale. Starting at £1590 per person, this deal saves up to £500 and includes:

  • Return flights with Qatar Airways from London Heathrow
  • Accommodation for 8-nights in China** (an extra two days are required for international travel)
  • All meals*** and domestic transport
  • Entrance fees, guides and daily tours
  • Visas for UK and EU passport holders -- worth around £90

Starting in Shanghai, a bus takes you to the ancient canal town of Wuzhen, which dates back 1300 years. This day trip allows you to explore the water markets, the Temple of General Wu, the Shadow Play Theatre and several museums.

Guests can walk along The Bund in Shanghai -- a waterfront promenade with colonial architecture and views of the city's skyline. Also included is a trip to the Yu Gardens, the Old Town and the Shanghai Museum. At night, guests will take a cruise down the Huangpu River.

The flight on the fifth day is to Xian, where a traditional evening meal of dumplings is accompanied by a performance of Tang-Dynasty dancing. The following day, a visit to the Terracota Warriors museum is followed by a walk around the ancient city walls. The next day is spent visiting the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the Shaanxi Museum.

Guests then fly to Beijing for two days. The first day includes a visit to Tiananmen Square, Chairman Mao's Mausoleum and the Forbidden City, which was the imperial palace for almost 500 years. Guests also visit the Temple of Heaven and take in a Chinese acrobatic show in the evening. The second day is spent visiting the Great Wall of China and the lakefront Summer Palace. The return flight is from Beijing on the tenth day.
