Here's a chance to book the first Vietnam and Cambodia twin-centre holiday we've ever published, for over £600 less than usual. At £1339 per person, this deal packs in room upgrades, 4- and 5-star hotel stays and a private tour of the 12th-century temples of Angkor Wat -- plus all flights and extra treats.
In full, the package includes:
Vietnam was featured on National Geographic Traveller's Hot List 2012, which highlighted the country's "stunning coastlines, imperial cities and some of the most flavoursome food on the continent". Da Nang has plenty to offer on all fronts -- there are four UNESCO World Heritage Sites nearby and Han Market, in the centre of the city, sells the best local produce. The beachfront Furama Resort Danang offers a daily t'ai chi lesson and has an infinity pool and a spa.
Next, head Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi for an overnight stay; both hotels are in the centre of the city and have several restaurants serving pan-Asian cuisine. In Ho Chi Minh City, we recommend a visit to the Củ Chi tunnels to see how the Viet Cong lived during the Vietnam War.
The trip finishes in Siem Reap, Cambodia, with a stay at the Grand Soluxe Angkor Palace Resort & Spa, which won a Luxury Hotel gong at last year's World Luxury Hotel Awards. Premier Deluxe Rooms have private balconies and teak floors. The included tour visits the temples of Angkor (pictured), the world's largest religious monument and "matched by only a few select spots on earth", says Lonely Planet. We've been and we loved the tree-strangled temples of Ta Prohm, within the Angkor Wat complex.
Depart with Vietnam Airlines on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 January-22 June, 2013. Friday departures include a 1-night stay in Hanoi, and Saturday departures include a 1-night stay in Ho Chi Minh City.
