This holiday is a little different to the usual Phuket and Bangkok trips we find -- it includes four nights in Chiang Mai, a destination we haven't featured in over three years and that, according to Lonely Planet, "encapsulates what is unique and breathtaking about Thailand". Visit all three Thai hotspots for £1199 per person with this 12-night deal from The Internet Traveller.
If you were to put it together yourself, the offer would cost up to £815 more. Here's what you get:
The trip starts in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. You'll stay in the Old Quarter at The Small hotel, a 5-minute walk from the city's night markets. Wander around the area's quaint boutiques, art shops, antique galleries and coffee houses, and be sure to try the many street food dishes on offer -- on our visit we particularly liked barbecued pork, a northern Thai speciality, with khao neow (sticky rice).
On your second day in Chiang Mai you'll visit the Chiang Dao Elephant Camp on the banks of the Ping River and join a 90-minute elephant trek to a remote hill-tribe village. After a traditional lunch, you'll float down the river on a bamboo raft, before visiting an orchid farm.
The next stop takes you to a luxurious hotel in Chalong Bay on Phuket island. The Serenity Resort & Residences has a spa, a fitness centre, a swimming pool and a beachfront lounge. There are free bikes to explore the area and a free shuttle service to Nai Harn Beach and Phuket Town, which is 20 minutes away.
The final stop is in Bangkok, Thailand's buzzing capital, at the Radisson Suites, just off the famous Sukhumvit Road. Facilities here include a rooftop pool and bar, free Wi-Fi, a restaurant serving local dishes and a cocktail bar.
Depart from 10 January-25 March, 2014.
It's an extra £40 per person to depart from 20 January-9 February.
Add return transfers for all three airports for an extra £75 per person, including a free Bangkok floating markets tour or Bangkok canals tour.
