"An endless parade of wildlife, fine diving, good food and cool hotels -- the pristine paradise of Costa Rica has them all," says Condé Nast Traveller. Most people come to this Central American gem for the stunning white beaches, as well as the natural beauty inland. Happily, you can explore both on this 11-night tour for £1199 per person -- that's £1100 less than usual.
The trip also includes a tour of a working coffee farm, a visit to the city of Grecia, tickets to an oxcart factory in the artisan town of Sarchi and a guided hike to Punta Leona, a 300-hectare nature reserve that's home to scarlet macaws, hummingbirds, toucans and spider monkeys.
You'll also take a nature walk around the Arenal Volcano National Park and a self-guided tour of the butterfly garden at Punta Leona.

The trip starts with two nights in San José -- "a stay in the capital is essential to understand Costa Rican culture", says The Independent. The Palma Real Hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Parque de la Sabana and the National Stadium, and has a spa, a swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar with live music.
The next stops take you into Costa Rica's jungle and mountains. You'll stay on a working ranch in the Sarapiqui valley, an area known for its "rainforest trails, pre-Columbian ruins and chocolate tours", according to Lonely Planet. As the name suggests, Tent Suites are under canvas and come with "glamping" touches such as modern bathrooms, private decks, telephones and Wi-Fi. Choose from four activities there: a nature walk, abseiling, zip lining or horse riding.
You'll then head to the foothills of the Arenal Volcano -- the Hotel Lomas del Volcan has a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi and rustic wood cabins with LCD TVs and Wi-Fi.
Finish with a tropical beach escape in Punta Leona, followed by a final night in San José. Set on a stretch of white sand on the Pacific Coast and surrounded by rainforest, the Punta Leona Hotel & Club offers a range of activities from dance lessons to nature walks, as well as a Costa Rican buffet, a gourmet grill and a poolside restaurant**.
Add three nights in Nicaragua from £499 per person. Highlights include the Masaya Volcano and artisan market, a boat tour of Granada's islands and a Granada colonial city tour, with lunches and breakfasts.
