It’s not often you can devote a whole week in your calendar to a specific food. When that food happens to be chocolate, you know you’re on to a winner.
Commencing on 10 October, Chocolate Week is a celebration of the foodstuff that has its origins in ancient Aztec and Mayan culture and doesn’t look like it's going out of fashion any time soon. Admittedly, you can appreciate the mighty cocoa bean at pretty much any time of year – Easter, Valentine’s Day, Christmas and even Halloween – but if there’s a time to commemorate solely chocolate, this is it.
Chocolate Week features events up and down the country showcasing the best in cooking with the sweet stuff – from chocolate art workshops and tastings to hot chocolate sampling and dessert-making demonstrations, there’s something to suit every chocolatey taste.
Events are spread out across the whole of Britain, with the majority being held in the south, west and east. Even some London taxis will be displaying bars of chocolate to buy during your journey.
