Publisher's Round up, 22 June

Rain and sun. The fickle weather in the UK this week is only too common. But we make the best of it, either by fleeing the country or facing stormy skies with a get-on-with-it attitude. Yet sometimes this doesn’t lead to the obvious choice like sipping cocktail on a beach, especially when you come across our most exciting trip this month: several of us at Travelzoo want to book this  Moscow city break for £599, where you sleep in style at a 5-star landmark building (a nod to Soviet-style architecture). You'll also get freebies -- a major bonus in this pricey capital -- like a river cruise and welcome cocktail.

Another high-priced destination knocked our socks off this week when our German office sent this £266 3-night hotel stay in Davos. I’m half Swiss and this is one of my favourite alpine resorts, just a few hours away from Zurich airport. Besides a stay in a historic hotel with a free upgrade, you’re treated to oodles of extras like 10 free tickets to the summer luge, an authentic Swiss fondue, access to the local gondola and mountain railways.

Over in cruise world, this unusual itinerary for £399 on a 9-Night UK & Ireland cruise on a small ship impressed us with stops in Dublin, Belfast, Guernsey and the Orkney Islands, plus a farewell cocktail party. Or hit the waves off the Cornish coast and have a go at surfing with this 2-day surf school package: for  £69 (reg £136), two people receive a day of instruction and two days of equipment hire in Newquay.

Back on dry land, we’ve found a 1-night hotel deal that lets you be outdoorsy and decadent in one go. Explore the New Forest with free tickets to an open-top hop-on, hop-off tour in, cosy up in this superb Georgian mansion and indulge in 3-course meal, a glass of sparkling wine, and strawberries and cream. All this comes with a £99 price tag in Hampshire. I’m booked in -- maybe I’ll see you there.
