This week our publisher weighs up two sunshine bargains (one to Florida and the other to Ibiza), and a Titanic-themed meal...
£349 & up -- Florida Holiday w/Free Car Hire, Save over £200
Flights to the land of year-round-sunshine, Disney and Key lime pies usually come in at over £450. But if you can get away in May, when temperatures can top 30 degrees in Orlando, this 7-night holiday is £349 each. It’s less than you’d spend on the average sojourn to Spain, but add in the fact that the offer includes car hire and insurance, plus free transport to major attractions, and it all starts to become a bit silly. We didn’t believe it until we test-booked it.
£49 -- 6-Course ‘Titanic’ Champagne Dinner for 2, Reg £90
There are several deals around commemorating the Titanic’s last supper, yet the Hotel Russell has a genuine claim to fame here: Charles Fitzroy Doll based the design for the doomed ship’s dining room on this Bloomsbury hotel’s Victorian restaurant. For less than £25 each, the 6-course tasting menu features the likes of canapés a l’amiral and roast squab.
£99 -- Short Break: 4-Star Ibiza w/Flights fr 7 Cities
Three nights in Ibiza, including return flights from a choice of seven UK cities, for under £100. Enough said, really. But what makes this deal even more of a rarity is that the hotel is not the bed-bug-ridden 2-star dive you’d expect for such a competitive price. Promisingly well-reviewed, the 4-star Hotel Tres Torres is close to the marina in Santa Eulalia, one of the island’s sleepy, scenic ports. Luggage isn’t included, but since temperatures in Ibiza average 20 degrees in April and May, you can fit your bikini into your hand luggage.
