Publisher's round-up, 21 Aug

It's a given that all our Top 20 deals are the best on the market and include a sizeable discount, so sometimes it takes something a little more to make an offer truly stand out. You might have noticed that we have a "Why We Like It" section on the right-hand side of our deal pages. This is where our Deal Experts get to explain exactly why they think a deal is fantastic. Sometimes, though, we all feel like that one line is just not enough -- take these deals for example:

£799 -- Thailand 12-Nt Bangkok & Beach Holiday, £429 Off

Why We Like It:

  • You get to see the Bangkok and Cha-am -- no need to spend time deciding between a city break and a beach escape
  • It includes completely private car transfers, not only to and from the airport, but between the two stylish 4-star hotels you'll be staying in
  • There are minimal meals included (stay with me, it's a good thing), allowing you to conduct your own Thai culinary adventure. This is handy since the country is known for having some of the world's best street food and swanky restaurants alike

£499 -- Ultra All-Inc Kos Week w/à la Carte Dining, £310 Off

Why We Like It:

  • The travel dates are in September and October. This is known as shoulder season (the bit between peak and off-peak periods) for the Greek Islands. The perks (other than impressively low prices)? It's still warm without being stifling, plus there are fewer crowds, making it easier to get some true R&R
  • You get a week of à la carte dining. We see a fair few all-inclusive deals, but some charge more if you want to eat away from the buffet. This offer includes dining at no less than 10 restaurants (including everything from Italian to sushi) at absolutely no extra cost
  • The resort's swimming pool is truly awe-inspiring -- there's 650 metres of it!

£249 -- 5-Star Lake Geneva Retreat w/Champagne, 50% Off

Why We Like It:

  • This place is a magnet for awards and accolades. Along with a place on Condé Nast Traveller's Gold List, some of its most recent honours include a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor in 2012 and 2013, and the Best Leading Hotel of Switzerland gong at the World Travel Awards in 2010
  • The package is stuffed with luxury treats. Not only do you get breakfast, free access to the Willow Stream Spa, a Montreux Riviera card (offering free local transport and attraction discounts), but you also get an ultra-posh bottle of champagne (worth £103) to savour
  • The scenery here is postcard-perfect. "Arriving for the first time on the shores of Lake Geneva, the first thing that hits you is the view," says The Guardian. In that case, this offer is ideal -- it includes an upgrade to a Deluxe Lake View Room, each of which has a balcony from which you can sit and enjoy the landscape. Now, where's that champagne?
