Here’s some welcome news for Channel Islanders and Scots alike: CI Travel Group has announced plans to launch flights from Glasgow to Guernsey this summer.
It will be the only direct flight to the island from Scotland and the first time the route has operated for several years. The service will run every Saturday from 29 June-14 September, 2013, using a 46-seater ATR 42 aircraft chartered from local carrier Blue Islands, with a flying time of two hours.
Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: "Guernsey is a popular destination among Scottish travellers, so it is great news that they will be able to fly direct from Glasgow Airport next summer instead of taking a connecting flight."
Guernsey and its neighbouring islands collectively make up the Channel Islands, 27 miles from the French coast of Normandy. St Peter Port, the island's capital, is famous for its seafood restaurants and clusters of antique shops.
