French Connection Just Got Easier

Good news for the Francophiles among you who dream of a provençal weekend without the fuss of a low-cost carrier flight: This spring, Eurostar is testing a weekly direct service to popular destinations in the south of France.

During May and June, 2013, the company will launch a weekly service from London to Lyon, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. Passengers can journey directly from London St Pancras International or Ashford International. On the return journey, passengers have to disembark in Lille to complete security and passport checks before re-boarding the Eurostar service through the Channel Tunnel.

Tickets are available now!

Prices for 2013 Lyon and Provence services are as follows:

  • From £99 for Lyon standard class; from £199 Standard Premier class
  • From £109 for Avignon and Aix-en-Provence in Standard class; from £249 for Standard Premier class

Eurostar's direct summer Avignon services, which also go on sale on 11 December, are available from £109 return in Standard class and £249 return in Standard Premier.

"By trialling this new service for future years, and by opening sales to our existing annual summer Avignon services earlier than usual, we are giving customers even more flexibility and choice when planning their trips to the south of France next year", said Nick Mercer, commercial director for Eurostar. "Journeys with Eurostar avoid the summer scramble at the airports and we encourage passengers to book early to avoid disappointment."
