Five of our favourite deals for £50 or less
OK, we’re not suggesting that you can actually buy a ski holiday for less than £50 -- that really would be ridiculous. However, this deal from Iglu Ski for a week in the top French resort of La Plagne is about as near as you can get -- at £179, including return flights, transfers and seven nights' accommodation, it works out at a nifty £25 per night. Gnarly, as those skiers might say.
If you fancy something on the warmer side, a hotel stay in Orlando, Florida, might be just be the thing. For £35, you get a night at the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando, 2-for-1 on breakfast and dinner, free buffet for kids nine and under, two welcome drinks on arrival and free parking. Not that you’ll need the car too often -- the hotel provides free shuttle service to Universal Studios, Sea World and Wet 'n Wild, and there’s an Imax theatre, shopping and restaurants across the street. Sounds a lot like the perfect family holiday to us. Oh, and before we forget, this price is valid over Easter and all the way through to the end of May. On reflection, it sounds exactly like the perfect family holiday.
Next up, take your pick from a selection of days out across the UK (and beyond) with this excellent deal from GetYourGuide.com. Here’s how it works: You pay £16 and in return you get £32 credit to spend on any of the experiences listed on the site. Currently there are a massive 355 to choose from across the UK, including everything from London bus tours and Jack the Ripper walks to Stonehenge outings and Loch Ness tours. There are also plenty of options to choose from in foreign cities. Bonus good news: you don’t have to spend all the credit in one go, and if the outing you’ve chosen costs more than £32, you just pay the difference at checkout.
And now for the really good bit -- if you combined your London experience with this offer from Travelodge, you could feasibly bag the two deals for less than £50. “Madness!” we hear you cry. “Not so!” we retort. Travelodge has cut the price of stays at a range of hotels in the centre of the capital, with rates now starting at £22 per night. OK, so maybe that is madness, but only in a good way.
To round things off, something hot and steamy from South America. No, sadly it’s not a flight to Brazil for less than £50. It is, however, a chance to see some top-notch tango at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End. Regularly £56, these top tickets for "Midnight Tango", starring “Strictly” favourites Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace, are now £36. “Spectacular” was how the Daily Express described it. It’s like watching “Strictly” but not having to watch the celebs clodhopping around and spoiling all the routines. And it definitely won’t feature Ann Widdecombe -- we’ll leave it up to you to decide whether that’s a good or bad thing.
