It was an increasingly poorly kept secret that next spring is a bonanza of closely packed bank holidays, meaning that those of us crafty enough to book time off work now – before workmates cotton on – could bag 11 days of holiday for the price of four days’ annual leave. However, that news just got better as today’s announcement of the Royal Wedding (and its extra bank holiday) means you can get away with booking only three days off.
This holiday bargain will begin with Good Friday on 22 April, and end with the May bank holiday on 2 May, with only 26-28 April to take off. It’s hard to think of a more efficient way to use your annual leave. That said, there’s no point signing off for nearly two weeks and staying home with nothing to do, so we looked for the best travel deals for Easter. This is a true early-bird-gets-the-worm-scenario; book your time off, and your deals, as soon as you can, or someone else might beat you to it.
We found this 7-night Rhine cruise from eWaterways, departing on 24 April, for £985 – a saving of over £300. The price includes return flights from London Heathrow and seven nights’ full-board accommodation onboard the MS Amadeus Diamond.
Nearer to home, we also found this all-inclusive week in Madeira from Holiday Giant. The price has been cut by £270 and is now £369. Departures are available from London Gatwick and Stansted on 1-30 April.
Jetline Travel also has a deal for travel during Easter: A week in a 5-star hotel in Marmaris, Turkey, is reduced by £140 to £259 per person. Departures are available 20-29 April from Gatwick. Click here for more information.
Finally, what better way to celebrate the Royal Wedding than a visit to the country where the engagement took place, Kenya? African Safari Club has a 2-week package departing on 24 April for £999. Admittedly, you’ll have to take more than three days off, but this half-board deal saves £290 on the regular price.
