Best of British: top dining & afternoon tea deals

It's British Food Fortnight and to celebrate, our Deal Experts have put together a selection of offers on award-winning dining, traditional afternoon teas and gourmet getaways around the country. Here are our favourites:

Shortlisted for the 2011 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, Flemings in Mayfair is a "place of serious cool", according to City AM. Dine out at this glamorous boutique hotel with champagne cocktails, canapés and a 3-course dinner for two people, all for £59 instead of up to £117.

The Purefoy Arms in the Hampshire village of Preston Candover is housed in a building dating from the 1860s. Two of you can work your way through three courses of what The Good Pub Guide 2014 calls "first-class food" at this pub dining gem for £39.

Two can take afternoon tea with a glass of champagne each for £14.50 a head at the 4-star Francis Hotel in Bath. The property, located in Queen Square, is moments from the Roman baths and Royal Crescent.

The Crown Country Inn
in Shropshire is a "quirky" restaurant with "olde-worlde charm", says The Good Food Guide 2013. Boasting oak beams, flagstone floors and a large inglenook fireplace, this 17th-century inn has gained praise from The AA Restaurant Guide 2013 for its "classy cooking" and "quality" food. For less than £15 a head, two can dine on a 2-course à la carte lunch or dinner at this award-winning eaterie.

in Sheffield, which was named Best City Centre Restaurant by Exposed magazine from 2009-2012, is a "vibrant" venue offering a "fantastic dining experience", says The Good Food Guide 2013. For less than £10 a head, you and a friend can tuck into a gourmet pie with a side of mushy peas and a glass of prosecco each.

For £99 per room, escape to a deluxe Liverpool hotel for 44% less than usual. This package from the 4-star Signature Living hotel includes an overnight stay for two in a Studio Double or Twin Room, a 6-course dinner from the taster menu in the hotel's restaurant (worth £46 per person) and continental breakfast.
