Our deal-loving subscribers in Belfast can now grab cheaper longhaul flights, thanks to the Air Passenger Duty (APD) slash in Northern Ireland.
The APD tax on direct, longhaul flights from Northern Ireland has now been cut to be in line with that of shorthaul flights. Chancellor George Osborne announced the change earlier this month. This currently only affects the Continental Airlines Belfast to New York Newark flight – which was nearly discontinued because of the initial rise.
The cut could see economy class passengers now saving £48 per ticket -- plus it may welcome new longhaul routes for Belfast.
