Morocco's Essaouira has "fairy-tale battlements", "miles of sandy beaches" and a "blue-and-white medina straight out of a picture book", says The Independent -- making it a great alternative to the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh. We've found a week there for £399 per person -- this deal, which covers some summer departures, saves up to £693 on market rates.
Depart on select dates from 20 May-16 July; 3 November-10 December. See Fleetway Travel's website for a full list of departure dates, including departures in October for £150 more.
The luxurious hotel -- which was named one of the top 25 hotels in Morocco at this year's TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice awards -- is set on a beach lined with eucalyptus and mimosa trees, a 10-minute drive from the centre of Essaouira.
There's a state-of-the-art gym and a spa with Clarins and Cinq Mondes products, as well as a golf course designed by Gary Player. The Daily Telegraph praises the "enormous infinity pool", "dozens of smart, colourful rooms" and "good restaurants".
The laid-back little port of Essaouira is on Morocco's Atlantic coast. It has an 18th-century medina -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site -- which is surrounded by fortified walls and filled with narrow alleyways and exotic souks. There's also a fishing harbour and several art galleries.
Travelzoo tip: We recommend visiting the fish market, where you can select your food and have it cooked in front of you at the open-air stalls.
Child prices apply: from £199 per child under 12.
