Update (20 June, 14:27): Please note that due to popular demand Cruise Nation are experiencing high call volumes, as a result there may be a short wait before your call is answered.

With free travel for the first child, stops in some of the Med's most popular ports and lots of extras thrown in, this package from Cruise Nation is perfect for seafaring families. For £599 per person -- a saving of up to 62% -- you get:

  • Return flights from London Gatwick to Milan
  • Week-long sailing with MSC Cruises
  • Free first child place worth £399 or an all-inclusive drinks package
  • Complimentary upgrade to a Balcony Cabin

The sailing is aboard the MSC Orchestra -- a ship "designed to accommodate families with children", says the 2013 Berlitz Guide to Cruising & Cruise Ships. The free child place is valid for children aged up to 16.

Flights depart on 27 September. Travel on 28 June or 13 September for £50 more or during the school summer holidays on 30 August for £100 more per person.

The cruise starts in Genoa, Italy. From there, the ship will travel to Civitavecchia (for Rome), Palermo (Sicily), Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza and Villefranche (for Nice), before heading back to Genoa.

Children's entertainment, in the form of talent shows, sports competitions, arts and crafts, and a teen disco, is provided every day from 9am-10pm at the three kids' clubs. The Mini Club caters for children aged 3-6, the Juniors Club for 7-11-year-olds and the Teens Club for children aged 13 and up.

Family-friendly facilities include a kids' swimming pool, outdoor play areas and a virtual arcade as well as miniature golf, football and tennis.

The ship's two main restaurants -- Villa Borghese and L'Ibiscus -- provide a special children's menu. Plus, there is also Fun Time Dinner for children aged 3-11, where they can dine with other children and the entertainment staff, giving parents a night off.

Transfers and baggage are not included. Transfers can be added from £36-£48 return, and 20kg baggage from £28-£34 per piece.

The same deal is available on 4, 11 October for £599 per person without the Balcony Cabin upgrade.
