Baltic cruises are "an inspiring and cultural alternative" to the Mediterranean, says cruise expert Douglas Ward. This itinerary certainly delivers on both counts, with stops in some great cities. The ship first calls at Copenhagen (Denmark), a "friendly, stylish city with gorgeous food and architecture", according to The Guardian.
Carnival Legend continues on to Warnemünde (Germany) -- the starting point for optional excursions to Berlin**, -- Helsinki (Finland) and St Petersburg (Russia), where the ship will stay in port overnight, giving more time to discover the city Cruise International calls the "jewel in the crown of Baltic voyages".
The last two ports of call are Tallinn (Estonia) and Amsterdam (Netherlands), before Carnival Legend sails back to Dover.
One of Carnival Cruise Lines' fleet of Fun Ships, Carnival Legend has a good range of facilities including a spa, a fitness room, two outdoor pools (including one with a retractable roof), hot tubs, a show lounge and a nightclub.
