With so many cruises departing from Southampton and Dover, we were made up to see this discounted Norwegian fjords sailing from Rosyth, near Edinburgh. For £599 per person, this deal from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines includes a 7-night cruise with all meals and a free upgrade to an Outside Cabin for £250 less than usual.
The sailing is aboard Black Watch on 1 September.
After leaving Rosyth, the ship heads to Olden, home to the Jotunheimen Mountains and Briksdal Glacier, before sailing to Floro, Flåm and Bergen, described by Lonely Planet as a "beautiful, charming city" with "the buzzing Vågen harbour as its centrepiece". The cruise ends back in Rosyth.
Writing in The Daily Telegraph, cruise expert Douglas Ward says sailing through the fjords from Olden to Flam "is rather like going through Alaska's Inside Passage… green and beautiful, and prone to spectacular cloud formations during the summer."
The price is based on two sharing on a full-board basis. Upgrade to all-inclusive for £70 more per person (£10 per night). Outside Higher Cabins cost £50 more per person and Superior Outside Cabins cost £150 more per person.
Dining options on Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' Black Watch include the spacious Glentanar Restaurant, the Orchid Room and the more casual Braemar Garden Café. For drinks, there is also the nautically themed Lido Lounge and The Observatory. Other facilities include the Neptune Lounge, which hosts regular shows and cabaret acts, a small cinema, two swimming pools, a tennis court and a fitness centre. There is also plenty of space on deck for strolling.
