Cruisenation.com is offering a week's sailing around the Norwegian fjords for £499 per person this spring. Saving up to £540 on prices with other operators, this is the best price we've seen for this cruise.
In full, you get:
Depart on 18 May; 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 June, or depart on 25 May (half-term) for an extra £100. The trip kicks off with a free hotel stay in Southampton, giving guests the chance to explore this historic city that's home to the longest surviving stretch of medieval walls in England. The following day you'll embark on a 7-night sailing around the "dramatic" fjords -- exploring IJmuiden, Flam, Stavanger and Oslo -- before returning to Southampton.
The MSC Opera is decorated in the Italian style found on all MSC ships, with a sweeping marble reception area and glass walls providing ocean views. The ship has a coffee bar, an ice cream bar, an internet cafe, a mini golf course, a health club, four pools, eight bars, two main restaurants -- La Caravella and L'Approdo -- and an outdoor restaurant, Il Patio.
Full board includes all meals. However, drinks are not included -- upgrade to all-inclusive drinks for £130 per person, or £99 if you stay in a Balcony Cabin or Suite. Each evening, guests are served a 7-course dinner, followed by entertainment in the Teatro dell' Opera, the onboard theatre that showcases live performances and cabaret acts.
Condé Nast Traveler recently named the Norwegian fjords amongst its pick of Dream Cruise Itineraries for 2013, noting the area's "mix of dramatic natural wonders -- glaciers, craggy mountains, waterfalls -- and culturally rich cities and towns".
Upgrade to a Balcony Cabin or Suite and get a free flight to Southampton as well as free car parking. Upgrades start at £299 extra per person.
